Childhood Memories

Valentines Day is far behind us and now we are in full swing for spring. I couldn’t pass up sharing my Galentines day getup that took me to a trip down memory lane.

A special thanks to The Fashionable traveler for bringing us all together for an awesome time at Neema Gallery.

Neema Fine Art Gallery located in the heart of downtown Charleston on one of the busiest streets. Its location is prime and what it has to offer is top notch.

Upon entering the gallery I was greeted with a warm smile from the owner Meisha and a great big hug from her adorable daughter. They are a dynamic duo and opening their space to us for a private event was amirable. Of course, my girls were there we hugged, snapped selfies, and began to take it all in.

From the amazing Galentines day setup and art pieces displayed on the wall, I was in awe of all that surrounded me.

In the midst of such love, beauty, and original art pieces my mind went on a trip down memory lane. It all started when I laid eyes on a piece that drew me in.

There she sat on the floor in the middle of the gallery all alone. At that moment I instantly became the girl in the picture sitting on the floor getting her hair done. Something I loved as a child and still till this day. I remembered my mother calling out to my sister to come help with my hair. It was always something special to have both my mom and sister doll me up.

The brush the girl is holding in her hand was one I used every time I visited my grandmothers. She had the entire set as pictured including a glamorous mirror. So many things about this photo sent me on a trip down memory lane.

I instantly snapped back to reality and inquired of the painting only to find out it had been sold. At that moment I was grateful for the trip and snapped a picture for keepsake memories.

There were many other pieces that stood out but this one captured my heart. I left full of great convos, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime.
